EOS – Eyes on Scene

PROJECTS

EOS – Eyes on Scene – Safer and more efficient Sea Rescue with drone support.

Together with several project partners, SmartPlanes will further develop and
integrate existing drones and bypass systems, carry out test operations with both
exercises and operations in connection with sharp sea rescue alarms to evaluate
flight safety and operational efficiency. The project runs for two years, until June 2023.

Trafikverket (The Swedish Transport Administration, which is behind EOS-Eyes on Scene – the project whose purpose is to do sea rescue efforts safer and more effective by sending out drones immediately after that the Sea Rescue has been reached by an alarm. Drones send pictures to rescue leaders and the rescue crew gets an overview of the situation even before they have boarded.

SmartPlanes will contribute knowledge, technical development and support to the project in flight tests and integration. The company also conducts its own product development of drone system and the project is expected to provide value both in terms of exposure and benefit own development.

The expectations are that the knowledge acquired in the project can be transferred both to others parts of shipping, as well as for example road traffic accidents, forest fires and so on to be of benefit to the widerSafer and more efficient Sea Rescue with drone support in the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) project EOS – Eyes on Scene. Together with several project partners, SmartPlanes will further develop and integrate existing drones and bypass systems transport system and to society at large.

SmartPlanes’ UAV Freya passed the NASA tests at Reno

SmartPlanes’ UAV Freya passed the NASA tests at Reno

The tests are one step in the process of securing the use of drones in areas where they could interfere with commercial air traffic. Successful implementation paves the way for applications such as product delivery and infrastructure inspection.
